July 16, 2009

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State University Sports Information Office ranked in the top 25 nationally among Division I schools and in third place in the Atlantic Coast Conference in the annual publications contest conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The Seminoles earned one national and three district awards for a total of four honors which were presented at CoSIDA’s annual convention held in San Antonio, Texas in early July.

Highlighting the Seminoles’ publication awards was a third best in the nation citation for the men’s basketball media guide (produced by Chuck Walsh) and two best in the district distinctions for the men’s basketball media guide and the women’s soccer media guide (produced by Jason Leturmy). The volleyball guide (produced by Katy Baker) was voted as the third best media guide in its district.

The Florida State men’s basketball media guide has been judged to be among the top five in the nation each year since 2002 and was voted as the nation’s best media guide in 2004. It is the only media guide in the nation during that time period to rank among the nation’s top five publications each year.

The women’s soccer media guide, designed by Leturmy, has also enjoyed success in the CoSIDA publications contest. That media guide has been named as the best in the district this season after ranking second in the district in both 2007 and 2008.

With its four publication citations Florida State placed third in the ACC behind only Clemson and Virginia which earned six awards each. The Seminoles’ men’s basketball media guide finished tied as the highest ranking media guide in the ACC with the Clemson men’s soccer and the Virginia Swimming and Diving media guides.
