GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State swimmer Andy Hodgson was selected as the season’s first Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week on Tuesday, October 21.
“It is obviously a great reflection on our program and the quality of our competition,” said head coach Neil Harper. “This is great for our team and I know Andy is being pushed by his teammates in practice and this gives everyone something to strive for.”
A junior transfer from Blackpool, England, Hodgson made his debut for the Seminoles winning six individual titles in FSU’s first three meets. Hodgson won the 200 freestyle (1:39.41) and 200 backstroke (1:49.95) to help defeat league foe Georgia Tech last Saturday, 164-135. Against Alabama, Hodgson took victories in the 200 free and 200 back to secure National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week honors. This is Hodgson’s first career ACC Performer of the Week honor.
Florida State (3-0, 1-0) will return to the pool on Saturday, November 1, at the Morcom Aquatic Center against Indian River Community College and Florida A&M at 11:00 a.m.
