TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Junior Andy Hodgson grabbed Florida State swimming and divings first honor of the season by being named College Swimming’s Counsilman Hunsaker National Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week on Wednesday, October 15.
“This honor was certainly unexpected at that level this early in the season,” FSU head coach Neil Harper said. “It’s a nice surprise and helps show the progress of our team and it puts our success on the map.”
Against Alabama, the Blackpool, England, native was victorious in the 200 free (1:39.82) and 200 back (1:50.46) and swam the backstroke leg of the winning 200 medley relay team. To cap-off the meet, Hodgson was second off the blocks for the winning 200 free relay. After two meets this season Hodgson has earned four individual victories in four races.
Next up for Hodgson and the Seminoles is a home meet on Saturday, October 18, against ACC rival Georgia Tech at the Morcom Aquatic Center. For live results and a race recap log onto www.seminoles.com.
