Tallahassee, Fla.- The Florida State swimming and diving team will host its final home meet of the year as they face Florida Atlantic Friday, February 8 at the Bobby E. Leach Center Pool at 3:00 p.m.
“Florida Atlantic is a team that gets better every year,” FSU head coach Neil Harper said. “They are well coached and this is their last tune-up before their conference meet so it should be a good dual meet.”
After the meet, both Seminole squads will travel to Auburn, Ala., to compete against defending National Champion Auburn on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. The Tigers have won five consecutive NCAA Championships on the men’s side while the women have won five out of the last six NCAA Titles. The Florida State women’s team will also compete against Arkansas on Saturday.
“There’s a lot to be gained by swimming against Auburn,” Harper said. “When we swim Auburn at their pool it can be a daunting task, but if our kids go toe-to-toe and win some races it gives us a boost.”
FSU will complete the dual meet season after facing off with Auburn this weekend. Next up for the Seminoles will be the ACC Championships in Atlanta, Ga. The women will compete for the ACC crown from February 20-23 while the men defend their ACC Title from February 27-March 1.
“The ACC Championship is where we measure our success,” Harper said. “That is what we really focus on. Florida Atlantic and Auburn are just stepping stones to us performing well at the [ACC] championships.”
