TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State swimming and diving team host its first home meet of the season against Alabama at the brand new Morcom Aquatic Center on Saturday, October 11, at 11:00 a.m.
“It’s exciting to christen the new pool against an opponent other than ourselves,” FSU head coach Neil Harper said. “I think a little bit of history is being made and our kids are excited to defend our home turf and race.”
The Seminole men (1-0, 0-0) and women (4-0, 1-0) opened the season successfully sweeping meets last weekend against Florida Atlantic, Florida International (women only) on Friday with the women defeating Miami and Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday. Both Alabama’s men’s and women’s teams enter the meet with a 1-0 record after wins against Delta St. FSU has a 9-10 (men) and 8-7 (women) all-time record against the Crimson Tide including victories for both teams at last years Georgia Tech Quad meet.
“Alabama is a great opponent with a great tradition and a lot of great swimmers,” Harper said. “It will be a great test for us and going into this meet and can’t tell you who is going to be favored. We expect to get what the SEC usually gives us and that’s their best.”
