The 2003-04 season kicked off for the men’s and women’s teams as they traveled to Clemson, S.C. to compete in the inaugural event at the new Clemson Indoor Track and Field Facility.


Sophomores LaKendra McColumn and Deanna Lane both qualified for the 60m hurdles finals after posting marks of 8.83 and 8.84, respectively. Sophomore Ricky Argro placed seventh overall to led the Seminoles with a long jump of 7.05m (23’01.75″) while junior Courtney Wright followed him with an eighth place finish (6.91m, 22’08”).


Lane, who competed in the long jump, finished with a 5.01m mark and freshman Charlene Walker added a 5.76m mark to round out the women’s competition. Juniors Kim Walker and Sharneka Brown just missed qualifying in the 60M dash recording times of 7.79 and 7.88, respectively.


In the men’s weight throw, sophomore thrower Andy Diakos finished with a 17’0″ (55”09.25) mark in flight two and junior Dan Royal posted a 16.81m (55’02”) mark to round out the first day of competition. On the women’s side, junior Mandy Kinney finished her flight two final with a 14.82m (48’07.5″) throw for the day.


Competition begins today at 9 a.m. and will conclude at 6:00 p.m. to end the two day event and the fall season for the Noles.
