March 1, 2007

Tallahassee, FL – Mike Long Track on the campus of Florida State University sees its first action of the outdoor season this Friday and Saturday, March 2 and 3, as the Seminoles host the Snow Bird Invitational. Two groups, including Michael Ray Garvin and Tom Lancashire to name a few, will travel to the Iowa State and Notre Dame last chance meets over the weekend to secure qualifying bids for the NCAA Indoor National Championship on March 9 and 10.

The Snow Bird Invite is open to all amateur competitors and is expected to be a large meet with around 1,000 participants. The Mike Long Track Facility was completely renovated in 2002 and a new Rekortan surface was added. All lanes on the oval were widened to 48″ and all the field events were redesigned and repositioned. The total seating capacity at Mike Long Track is currently 1,200.

The meet kicks off at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 9, with the hammer throw out at the Alumni Village Cage. Running and field events begin at 1:00 p.m. at the track and admission is free to all. More information can be found by logging onto Seminoles.com and visiting the track and field main page. Live results will be posted on halfmiletiming.com.
