Florida State Track & Field Give Back During the Holidays

Dec. 19, 2006

In the midst of final exams and training for a repeat National Title, the men and women of the Florida State track & field team made sure that two local families would have the Christmas they deserved.

On Friday, December 15th, members of the track & field team presented the Salvation Army with boxes of presents and food for two local families they adopted for the holidays. This is the second year the team has adopted local families with the hope of bringing some holiday cheer to those less fortunate.

For the month of December, student-athletes raised money which was then taken by the team captains to purchase gifts for the children and parents of both families along with some needed household items. In addition, the Seminoles held a food drive for non-perishable items that were also donated along with the gifts.

Some student-athletes contributed directly by purchasing toys such as stuffed animals and educational games. The members of the men’s & women’s squad will continue this team tradition of giving back and doing their part to help make the holiday season a memorable one for those in need.
