TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –The No. 2 Florida State men’s golf team competes at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate at the Old Overton Country Club in Vestavia Hills, Ala., on Monday and Tuesday. This is the Seminoles first appearance in the tournament since 1995.
Defending national champion Alabama is hosting the tournament which features four teams ranked in the top 25 by Golfweek. The 12-team field team includes No. 5 Georgia Tech, No. 21 Alabama, No. 24 UNLV, No. 43 Georgia State, No. 44 Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, UAB, Charlotte and UTSA.
Rounds one and two are scheduled for Monday with the Seminoles teeing off the first round at 8:20 a.m.
The Seminoles started the season at the Fighting Illini/Olympia Fields Invitational where they finished in second. Florida State is returning four members of that lineup including junior Rowin Caron who finished tied for fourth and sophomore Josh Lee who finished tied for sixth.
Junior Hank Lebioda and sophomore Jack Maguire, both All-ACC honorees, return to the lineup. Sophomore Anthony Alex makes his first appearance since March of 2014 when he competed as an individual at the Seminole Intercollegiate.
