TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Seminoles suffered their first home loss of the season Friday night, as the 24th-ranked Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech defeated them by a score of 3-0 (26-30, 26-30, 16-30). Florida State falls to 18-9 overall, 9-4 in the conference, while Georgia Tech improves to 25-5, 11-3 in the ACC.
Senior outside hitter Alex Sevillano led the Seminoles in the loss, as she recorded eight kills, two service aces, seven digs and a team-high hitting percentage of .333. Erica Bunch, an outside hitter for the Tribe, led Florida State in kills with 13, while senior opposite Kristin Frye notched 10 kills of her own. Frye also notched seven digs and two block assists. Junior setter Jennifer Anderson had a team-high 35 assists.
Leading the way for the Ramblin’ Wreck was sophomore middle hitter Laura Kuhn, as she recorded six kills, one dig, one block assist and a hitting percentage of .625. Junior middle hitter Alexandra Preiss had 15 kills, two digs, two block assists and a hitting percentage of .565. Lynnette Moster, the sophomore outside hitter for Georgia Tech, recorded eight kills, one service ace, 12 digs, two block assists and hit .294 on the evening. Kele Eveland had four kills, 41 assists and a hitting percentage of .571.
Florida State will return to action tomorrow night, when the Seminoles will host the Clemson Tigers in the final home match of the season. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. at Tully Gymnasium.
