TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State volleyball team opens the 2008 season as it hosts the Florida State Invitational inside Tully Gym on Friday, August 29 and Saturday, August 30. The Seminoles will face cross-town rival Florida A&M in the 6:00 p.m. match on Friday before taking on Bowling Green State and Stetson on Saturday.

Friday’s match marks this first time the Seminoles and Rattlers have met since the 2002 season when FSU swept FAMU 3-0. The Garnet and Gold hold a flawless 19-0 record against the local rivals since first meeting in 1980.

The FSU Invitational will mark the first meeting between FSU and Bowling Green State, a team that also lost its libero from last season. The Falcons posted a 21-10 record in 2007 and finished third in the Mid-American Conference. Wrapping up the weekend will be a match against Stetson University, a team that has fallen to Florida State in all three meetings. The Hatters appeared in this tournament back in 2006, losing in three sets to the Seminoles on Lucy McDaniel Court.

All matches will have live stats through Gametracker with Florida State’s Friday night match against Florida A&M and Saturday night match against Stetson available through ACC Select live video streaming. For more information, log onto www.seminoles.com and follow the links to the volleyball page.
