As they approach their second tournament of the season and their fourth match of 2001 the Lady Seminoles are hoping to improve on a 1-2 record following the Pepperdine Tournament. The squad must also prepare to face two top 25 teams this weekend in No. 18 Texas A&M as well as No. 25 Texas.
Florida State and Texas A&M will face each other Friday, Sept. 7th at 7:00 p.m. This will mark the ninth meeting between the two schools following their last meeting in the spring of 2001. The Aggies enter the tournament 1-0, returning six starters from last year’s squad that went 20-9 after advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
“We are all looking forward to this trip to Texas,” said head coach Cecile Reynaud. ” It should be a great experience not only for the team but especially for Norisha Campbell and Aisha Carr. With the two of them being from Texas they will receive the chance to play in front of family and friends.”
FSU will take on Texas for the sixth time on Sat. the 8th at 6:00 p.m. Texas, who has opened their 2001 campaign with a 4-0 start, recently entered the AVCA Top 25 Poll at the No. 25 position.
“We received the chance to play Texas A&M this Spring which will help us to be a little more familiar with their style of play than Texas’, ” said Cecile Reynaud. “Texas A&M has great crowds which should also make this weekend exciting.”
