Tallahassee, Fla. – The Seminole volleyball team will travel to San Marcos, Texas for the Texas State Tournament September 5-6. Texas State is the former Southwest Texas State, but the name officially changed to Texas State on September 1st. Florida State will play three matches against Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech and No. 8 Pepperdine. FSU is coming off a second place finish in the FSU Invitational this past weekend, going 2-1 with a loss to then-No. 15 Kansas State. Juniors Aisha Carr and Amanda Santos were named to the FSU Invitational All-Tournament team.
Series Vs. The Tournament Field
Arkansas State (4-0)
Florida State leads the all-time series with Arkansas State 2-1 with the last meeting coming in 1993. The Seminoles swept the 1993 match
3-0 (15-3, 15-9, 15-2). The Indians only win against FSU came in the first ever meeting between the two schools in 1978. Arkansas State knocked off FSU 2-1 (15-5, 17-19, 15-17) to open the 1978 season.
Louisian Tech (3-0)
This will be the first-ever meeting between Florida State and Louisiana Tech.
No. 8 Pepperdine (2-1)
Pepperdine leads the all-time series with Florida State 3-0 dating back to 1978. The Seminoles and the Waves last met in the 2001 Pepperdine Tournament with the Waves winning 3-0 (21-30, 24-30, 29-31).
