TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
Florida State (2-2, 0-0) will host the University of Oregon (6-2, 0-0) at Tully Gymnasium Tuesday, September 10th, at 7:00 p.m. The Seminoles will be looking to earn the program’s first victory over a Pac-10 team when Florida State and Oregon face off for the first time in school history. The match will be broadcast live on Sunshine Network.
Florida State enters the match with a record of 2-2 on the season after winning back-to-back matches against Marshall (3-0) and Jacksonville (3-0). Leading the way for the Seminoles is senior Kristin Frye with 42 kills (3.23 per game) and 10 blocks (0.77 per game). Senior Dawn Hough is proving to be a force at the net as she has recorded 15 blocks (1.36 per game) in four matches. After breaking Florida State records in 2001, Jennifer Anderson is on track to move up in the record book in 2002. Already this season, Anderson has moved into the top five among all-time career assist leaders.
Since winning their first four matches of the season, the Ducks have split the last four matches and currently boast a record of 6-2. Lindsay Closs has performed well for Oregon as she has recorded 17 kills twice during the season. Against Miami, Closs was responsible for 7 blocks, a team high on the season. Sydney Chute leads the Ducks in single-match assists with 29,which she tallied against North Carolina A&T.
The Seminoles will return to action this weekend as Florida State travels to Miami to compete in the Florida International Tournament. The Tribe will face host Florida Internaitonal, Miami and IUPUI.
