Florida State Women’s Basketball Holds First Practice

Oct. 16, 1999

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State women’s basketball team held its first
practice of the season this morning at 11 a.m., working for
approximately two in a half hours in the practice gym at the Moore
Athletic Center. Head Coach Sue Semrau and her staff emphasized defense
and conducted numerous drills that teach tempo and high-tempo
transition.

“I was very pleased with how the team responded today,” Semrau
said. “We asked them (the players) to work hard, communicate,
concentrate and compete. I thought they did three of the four things
extremely well and that’s what they thought too. We are learning to
communicate and that improved as the practice went on. We began with an
emphasis on defense because that’s one of the things that we want to be
best at.”

The Seminoles will return to practice on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
FSU Basketball Fan Day will be held on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the
Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center.
