Florida State Women’s Cross Country Team Earns No. 35 Ranking in Polls

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State University women’s cross country squad received seven votes and was ranked No. 35 in the latest FinishLynx Women’s Cross Country Rankings, released Tuesday. The Lady Seminoles also earned a first-place ranking in the NCAA South Region according to a recent poll by the Women’s Cross Country Coaching Association.


On the men’s side, FSU was voted third in the NCAA South Region in a poll released by the U.S. Cross Country Coaching Association. To date, the Seminoles have one first-place victory with a win three weeks ago at the FSU Cross Country Invitational.


Last Friday, the men’s and women’s team earned 12th and 13th-place finishes, respectively, at the Great American Cross Country Festival in Charlotte, N.C. Lady Seminole senior Vicky Gill placed fifth in the 5k-course with a time of 18:17. Joep Tigchelaar earned the best placing for the Seminoles, completing the 8k-course in 27:48.3 and finishing 57th.


The Seminoles next meet will be on Oct. 5 when they travel to Gainesville, Fla., for the Florida Invitational.
