Florida State Women’s Golf Team Finishes Second At Landfall Tradition

Nov. 3, 2002

WILMINGTON, N.C. –
Florida State senior Kristin Tamulis shot a career-low 68 in the third round to finish in second place in the individual standings and the Seminole women’s golf team finished second in the team standings as competition in the Landfall Tradition concluded Sunday. Tamulis finished only one stroke behind the individual medallist, Nuria Clau of Wake Forest, as she earned the third second place finish of her career. The second place team finish is Florida State’s highest of the fall season and allowed the Seminoles to finish ahead of two teams ranked ahead of them in the national rankings including No. 16 Purdue.

Tamulis (Naples, Fla.) played the best tournament of her career as she established personal records for career-low round score (68), career-low round tournament score (215) and tournament score vs. par (-1) while tying her best career finish (second place). Tamulis’ third round score of 68 is two strokes better than her previous career-low score of 70 which she carded in the first tournament of her collegiate career during the fall of 1999.

Junior Alison Curdt (St. Louis, Mo.) finished in a tie for 12th-place after firing a career-low score of 69 in the second round. She tied her career-best finish at tied for 12th; she also finished in a tie for 12th-place in the ACC/SEC Challenge, which was the first tournament of the Seminoles’ season this fall.

Junior Katie Quinney (Atlantic Beach, Fla.) carded a near career-low 73 in the final round and finished in a 23rd-place. Her third round score marked the third time during her career she had shot 73 or better in a single round. Quinney’s career-best single round score is a 72 during the 2002 Ryder/Florida Championship Tournament. Florida State won the championship of that tournament.

Junior Carrie Sordel (Windermere, Fla.) and freshman Caroline Larsson (Danderyd, Sweden) finished in a tie for 24th-place and a tie for 28th-place respectively.

The second-place finish closes out the fall season for the Seminoles. They begin play in the spring season at the Lady Gator Invitational March 9-11, 2003
