TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State women’s tennis team will host the Maryland Terrapins Tuesday, March 25th, at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center on the Florida State University campus. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm. The Seminoles enter the match with a record of 12-5 and 2-1 in the conference, while the Terrapins have a record of 8-4 on the season.
Florida State and Maryland have met 11 times in the history of the two schools. The Tribe leads the series with a record of 10-1. Last season, the Seminoles and Terrapins split two matches. Maryland defeated Florida State in the regular season match-up in College Park, Md., 4-3. The Seminoles evened the score when they took on the Terrapins by a score of 4-3.
The Seminoles enter the match ranked 45th in the country and boast a record of 12-5. Anca Dumitrescu and Mihaela Moldovan have lead the Seminoles in dual match play this season. Dumitrescu, with a record of 16-5, is the highest ranked Seminole, as she is 53rd in the nation. Moldovan, a sophomore on the Florida State squad, currently ranks 81st in the county and boasts a record of 14-4.
Maryland is lead by freshman Romona But, who boasts a record of 14-6 in singles action and 8-4 in doubles. Marta Jedrzejack is another force for the Terrapins, as she has tallied a record of 12-9 in singles and 10-6 in doubles.
