Tallahassee, Fla.- To help the Florida State women’s track and field team continue its climb up the conference and national ladders of success, the squad will now add a handful of powerful recruits from across the nation. Five talented runners will join the team this fall including the fourth-best 800m runner in the country, Christal Washginton, and Candyce McGrone, ranked No. 5 in the 100m dash.
“This will be one of our best recruiting classes ever,” said head coach Bob Braman. “We expect all of these athletes to come right in and score at the ACC level and some of them possibly even at the national level. We’re very excited about this group and we have plans to add several others before the recruiting period is over.”
In addition to Washigton and McGrone, the Seminoles will also add a trio of distance runners including high school All-Ameircan Kacey Gibson, the 2007 Alabama Cross Country 6A state champion Jennifer Dunn and the 2007 OFSAA Cross Country Gold Medalist Keesha Danso-Dapaah.
The Seminole women will be back in action next weekend at the 2008 ACC Indoor Championships in Chapel Hill, N.C.
