The Florida State Lady Seminole volleyball team completed their second match of the 2001 campaign at the Pepperdine Tournament with a loss to Northern Arizona University putting FSU at 1-1 for the 2001 season.
In the first game of the afternoon the Lady Seminoles would lose to the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks by a score of 30-22, but the team would quickly return in game two taking the win by 13 points, 30-17. Staying in a groove the Seminoles would once again come out on top in game three finishing 30-20. In the fourth game of the match NAU would take the win with the Seminoles forced to play the fifth and decisive game for the second time this season. Making every point count the Lady ‘Noles would tie the Lumberjacks seven times in the final game lastly at the 13-13 mark with a kill by Norisha Campbell from Jennifer Anderson. It would be the last point FSU would score with NAU finishing the game winning 15-13.
“This was a heart breaking loss for us, said head coach Cecile Reynaud.” “We played Northern Arizona point for point throughout the match which was very encourgaing, we were just unable to come away with the win.”
Junior Kristin Frye would improve on her career high of 18 defensive digs coming in with 22 on the afternoon. Norisha Campbell would lead in kills (18), total attacks (50) and block assists (5). Erica Bunch finished the match with the highest hitting percentage of FSU .467.
Florida State will next face No. 17 host Pepperdine Saturday, Spet 1 at 8:00 p.m.
