Florida State Wraps Up Day One At SDSU Fall Tennis Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Florida State freshman Lisa Nytrom Skold collected two victories to lead the Seminoles on day one of the San Diego State University Fall Classic at the Aztec Tennis Center.  Play resumes on Saturday.

In the Gold singles draw, Nystrom Skold blanked New Mexico‘s Elisa Bonner by scores of 6-2, 4-6, 10-6.  She later toppled Sophia Vogt of the University of San Diego, 6-2, 6-2.  Freshman Suzanna Mansour fell 6-0, 1-6, 10-0 in the first round of the Red singles draw to Carla Rocha of Long Beach State University.  Junior Whitney Eber dropped a 6-2, 6-2 contest to Georgia Tech’s Christy Striplin in the Black singles draw. 

Florida State senior Alina Mihailescu received a first round bye in the Gold singles draw.  

The Seminoles went 1-1 on day one of doubles action.  The Nytrom Skold/Mihailescu team upended Porsz/Tabatiuong of Long Beach State University, 8-2, in the Black draw.   In the Red doubles bracket the Eber/Mansour tandem fell to Georgia Tech’s Shosho/Silverio team, 8-3.
