Florida State’s Quinney In Ninth Place At Bryan National Collegiate Women’s Golf Tournament

Florida State junior Katie Quinney shot a career-best 70 to move into ninth place in the individual standings and help the Seminole women’s golf team move into ninth place in the team standings at the Bryan National Collegiate at Bryan Park Golf Club as second round play concluded Saturday. Quinney is in place for her second top-10 finish as a Seminole and Florida State is only five strokes from cracking the top-five in the team standings.

Quinney (Atlantic Beach, Fla.) is tied for ninth with Megan Francella of North Carolina after the first 36 holes of the tournament. She carded a two-under par score of 70 – her career best – to improve her individual standing by 25 places. Quinney’s score of 70 was tied for the second best score of the day among the 90 competitors in the event.

Seminole All-America candidate Kristin Tamulis (Naples, Fla.) is tied for 27th place after shooting a three-over par 75 in the second round. Tamulis is tied with teammate Caroline Larsson (Danderyd, Sweden). Both players have shot identical two-round scores of 151.

Juniors Carrie Sordel (Windermere, Fla.) and Alison Curdt (St. Louis, Mo.) are tied for 63rd and 77th respectively.

No. 1 ranked Duke maintained its team lead and enters Sunday’s third round with a four-stroke lead over second place Vanderbilt. Nuria Clau of Wake Forest leads a pack of four players – Clau, Kristy McPherson of South Carolina and Courtney Wood and May Wood of Vanderbilt – atop the leader board. The four players are tied with two under par scores of 142

Sunday’s final round begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
