TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Following a championship win at the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational over the weekend, Seminole softball’s Kaleigh Rafter was awarded with the first Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honor of the season. Rafter led Florida State to a 4-1 record and the tournament crown against the Longhorns.
The senior hit .556 after five games over the weekend, all of which she started behind the plate. Rafter is currently on a five game hitting streak, including two doubles and a home run in the championship game, and went 10-for-18 overall.
Rafter contributed equally on defense as the starting catcher stopped the only two stolen base attempts against FSU and posted 36 putouts and four assists.
The Seminoles are out to an early lead in the ACC after the big weekend in Austin, Texas. Next up for the Garnet and Gold is a cross-town matchup at Florida A&M at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, before hosting the first of three home tournaments, the Sunshine Classic, beginning with Appalachian State at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13.
