Florida State’s Tonya Carter Named Co-ACC Performer Of The Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida State women’s track and field team
captured another ACC Performer of the Week Award for the week of February
7th. Tonya Carter, who won the 55m dash with a time of 6.77 at the ACC-SEC
Challenge in Gainesville, was named Co-ACC Performer of the Week along with
Georgia Tech’s Sara Pardue.

Carter’s time earned her an NCAA automatic qualification, her
second of the year. Earlier, at Virginia Tech, Carter earned an automatic
qualification in the 60m dash. Carter is the third Seminole to be named
ACC Performer of the Week this indoor season. FSU’s Samantha George and
Joe Allen were named Performers of the Week for the week of January 31st.

The women’s team also learned on Tuesday that it remains in the top
25 for the second consecutive week. The Lady Seminoles are tied for 24th
in the Trackwire rankings.

The FSU track and field team will be off the weekend of February
12th and will return to action on February 18th at the ACC Indoor
Championships hosted by Virginia Tech.
