Florida State’s Wright In Second At Ryder/Florida Women’s Golf Championships

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. –
Florida State senior Louise Wright shot a career low three-under par 69 and is in second place in the individual standings at the Ryder/Florida Women’s Collegiate Championships at Don Shula’s Golf Course. Wright’s two-day total of 142 has helped put the Seminoles into fifth place in the team standings with one round of the event to be played Sunday. The Seminoles begin play on Sunday only nine strokes off the pace being set by Florida, the current team leader.


Wright (Ipswich, England) shot her career-low score of 69 and has totaled a two-under par 144 in the first two rounds of the tournament. She trails the current medallist, Michelle Simpson of Florida International, by a single stroke. Wright’s 69 in Saturday’s second round bettered by one her pervious low round of 70 which she shot in the third round of the 1999 Lady Seminole Invitational.


Wright is followed by teammate Kristin Tamilus (Naples, Fla.) is finished the second round in a tie for 14th -place with a score of six-over par 150. She shot a one-over par 73 in Saturday’s second round to improve her individual placing five positions after round one. Freshman Alison Curdt (Ellisville, Mo.) begins the third round on Sunday in a tie for 32nd-place with a two-day total of 13-over par 150.


The Seminoles’ team score of 301 is their second best round of the spring. Florida State shot the sixth best team round of Saturday’s second round.


Sunday’s third and final round begins at 7:30 with a shotgun start.
