September 17, 1998

TALLAHASSEE, FL
— No. 11 Florida State concluded workouts for its home
opener against Duke on Saturday with a 15-period workout in shorts on
Thursday afternoon at Ed Williamson Practice Fields on the FSU campus.

“I think we have responded really well in practice this week,” said
Seminole head coach Bobby Bowden. “Our guys have shown extra attention to
detail this week after what happened last Saturday.”

Florida State worked on its game plan for Duke on Saturday during today’s
practice. The Seminoles also worked on its special teams play.

“It will all come down to attitude on Saturday,” Bowden said. “Duke will
come in here very confident and we will need to play with a sense of
urgency.”

FSU will be without starting defensive tackle Larry Smith (ankle) again
this week. Also ruled out for Saturday’s game are: Talman Gardner
(hernia) and Char-ron Dorsey (neck). Brian Allen (ankle) is listed as
questionable while Tommy Polley (hamstring) and Lamont Green (knee) are
probable.

Saturday’s game will kickoff at 7:00 p.m. and will be televised on
Sunshine Pay-Per-View.
