Football Practices in Preparation for Miami

Oct. 7, 1998

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 8 Florida State Seminoles practiced for 20
five-minute periods today in preparation for the showdown with in-state
rival Miami.

“We got in some good work in today,” said head coach Bobby Bowden.
“Tomorrow, we’ll see if we’ve got our assignments down. We’ll still
dropping too many passes, but we’re better than a week ago.”

“Miami always have a good secondary, it’s always been a battle (with our
receivers),” commented Bowden. “I expect it will be the same this year.
Miami does a lot of stuff like we do and they’re playing a lot harder than
last year.”

This season will be the first since 1989 that FSU will enter the Miami
game with a loss.

“It makes the other team more confident, but we’re going in with the same
attitude,” said Bowden.

INJURY REPORT: Freshman defensive lineman Chris Woods was held out of
practice due to illness. Travis Minor (ankle), Dee Feaster (knee) and
Dexter Jackson (hamstring) all practiced today.
