Football Recruits Named Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year

April 2, 1998

Orlando, Fla. — The Orlando Touchdown Club awarded its annual high school players of the year trophies last week and the awards went to two young men headed to play for Florida State.

Brett Williams, a 6-5, 320 pound, offensive tackle from Osceola High in Kissimmee was named the Orlando Club’s Offensive Player of the Year. Chris Woods, a 6-3, 244 pound, linebacker from Jones High in Orlando was selected the Defensive Player of the Year.

Both Williams and Woods have signed letters-of-intent to attend Florida State next season and play for Bobby Bowden’s Seminoles. The two make up a recruiting class ranked among the nation’s top five by virtually every recruiting evaluator.
