Four Capture ACC All-Academic Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  – The Florida State indoor volleyball team had four players named to the 2013 All-ACC Academic Team as the list was announced by the league office on Thursday.  

Katie Mosher, Nicole Walch and Sarah Burrington have all grabbed their first honors, while Sarah Wickstom captured her second.

“I am so proud of the four players that were named All-ACC Academic Team,” head coach Chris Poole said. “Those four ladies and all of our players are working hard on the court and in the classroom and I am happy they were recognized for both.”

Among the 15 teams in the conference, Florida State had the second most members selected behind Duke who had six.

Wickstrom continued her solid play throughout 2013 as a setter, tallying 854 assists while averaging 6.78 per set.  The junior has also excelled in the classroom while majoring in Sport Management.

A redshirt junior libero, Mosher led the Seminoles with 506 digs, moving into third place on the all-time FSU list. She is a Sport Management major and earned All-ACC Second Team accolades.

Walch had a breakthrough year on the court as an outside hitter, leading the Seminole attack with 447 kills while captured All-America honorable mention honors. In addition to her studies of Sport Management, Walch was also selected to the All-ACC Second Team.

In her first season as a middle blocker, Burrington became instrumental in blocking, amassing 149 total blocks, while accounting for 226 kills in 2013. Burrington is majoring in Exercise Science.
