Four Noles to Compete at USA Volleyball Collegiate Championship

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State’s No. 1 duo of graduate transfer Leigh Andrew and sophomore Brooke Kuhlman and No. 2 pair of juniors Victoria Paranagua and Vanessa Freire were selected to compete at the 2017 USA Volleyball Collegiate Beach Championship being held in Hermosa Beach from May 11-13.“I am very proud of those four for being selected to the USAV Pairs Championship,” Florida State head coach Brooke Niles said.

“The strength of our program shows by having two teams selected to play in this championship. I am excited about the future of this tournament and how it grows. I am also excited to see who the best pair will be.”

The duo of Andrew and Kuhlman have played together for most of the season at the No. 1 position and finished with a 15-10 overall record and a 14-10 record in the first position.

Andrew and Kuhlman were named First Team All-CCSA earlier this season.

 

Four Noles to Compete at USA Volleyball Collegiate Championship

 

The Seminoles’ No. 2 pair of Paranagua and Freire played in eight matches together this season, winning all of them. The pair won by a combined score of 349-202 over its eight opponents.

Paranagua and Freire were awarded CCSA Tournament MVP for their performance at the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Tournament. The pair went 6-0 at the tournament and gathered the match clinching point for the Noles in the conference championship win over FIU.

The USA Volleyball Collegiate Beach Championships will be held in partnership with the Team USA Summer Champions Series. The competition field will consist of 24 women’s pairs and eight men’s pairs, playing for a title which will earn them a spot on a USA Volleyball collegiate beach national team.
