GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State freshman Holly Johnson has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Rookie of the Week, league officials announced late Monday after helping to guide the Seminoles to a 75-46 win at Akron on Sunday.
A Phoenix, Ariz., native, Johnson scored a career-high 15 points to accompany her five rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes of action in the Seminoles’ 75-46 victory against Akron. The 5-8 guard went 5-for-8 from the field (63%), 2-for-4 (50%) from beyond the arc and 3-for-3 (100%) from the free throw line. Johnson is averaging 6.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, has started all seven Florida State match-ups at the point guard position and is playing a team-high 29.9 minutes per game.
Johnson is FSU’s second ACC Rookie of the Week honoree this season as Ganiyat Adeduntan earned the accolade on November 25, 2002.
