TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State football team practiced for 24 periods Friday afternoon in shells (shorts, shoulder pads and helmets). The team worked in segment groups for the majority of practice before concluding with 11-on-11 drills. The first scrimmage of the spring will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Capital Stadium. The scrimmage will be closed to the public.
“Tomorrow we’ll go out to Capital Stadium for a little scrimmage,” said head coach Bobby Bowden. “We just want to see them play football. A lot of these guys are game players and we want to see that. There were some good licks out there today. (Chauncey) Stovall and (Dominic) Robinson looked good running routes and they really caught the ball well.”
The defense continued their strong play as several players stood out during the 11-on-11 drills. Travis Johnson, Buster Davis and Willie Jones all recorded sacks while Clifton Dickson and Charles Howard each had a tackle for loss. Stovall had a pair of catches for 23 yards during the drill.
Following Saturday’s scrimmage, the Seminoles have two more weeks of spring practice before concluding with the annual Garnet & Gold game on April 3rd.
