FSN Florida and Comcast Cable today announced a multi-year affiliation agreement that brings the regional sports network to Comcast customers in Tallahassee and West Florida.
Beginning July 11, Comcast subscribers in Tallahassee and West Florida (Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties) will receive a special preview of FSN Florida and its extensive lineup of local and regional sports programming with the network officially joining the Comcast lineup in those markets on July 31. FSN Florida’s programming includes exclusive season-long coverage of the Florida Marlins and Tampa Bay Devil Rays, year-round coverage of ACC athletics including “ACC Sunday Night Hoops,” numerous games/events featuring Florida State University and the University of Miami, plus FSN’s award-winning national sports programming such as “Best Damn Sports Show Period,” “Beyond the Glory” and the soon to be launched “In Focus” and nightly “FSN Final Score” series.
In addition, the agreement provides for distribution on these Comcast systems of FSN Florida’s high-definition telecasts, including HD games for the Florida Marlins and Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
“Comcast is dedicated to bringing the best sports coverage to our customers as possible. The launch of FSN helps us to do that,” said Steve Dvoskin, Regional Vice President, Comcast Gulf Coast Region. “Now with FSN, Sun Sports and Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS), no one else offers a broader college sports package than Comcast. It also provides our customers with additional HD offerings, which is perfectly suited for live sports.”
“I’m delighted to announce with Comcast Cable this carriage agreement for Tallahassee and West Florida,” said Cathy Weeden, VP/GM of FSN Florida and Sun Sports. “The combination of FSN Florida and sister network Sun Sports on these two additional Comcast systems ensures these subscribers access to the full range of local and regional sports programming and enhancements offered by our two regional sports networks.
FSN Florida will be available as part of Comcast’s expanded basic service on Channel 50 in Tallahassee and Channel 72 in West Florida.
FSN Florida produces a comprehensive package of 150 regular season Florida Marlins and 75 Tampa Bay Devil Rays telecasts each season. Upon its launch on these Comcast systems, viewers will see this season’s remaining Marlins regional game telecasts (on FSN Florida and Sun Sports) and Devil Rays games (FSN Florida). Additionally, all the remaining Marlins and Devil Rays games FSN Florida is producing in HD this season will soon be available to Comcast’s HD customers in these markets. HD channel numbers on these two Comcast systems will be announced as they are available.
Also significant to this launch is the availability of FSN Florida’s exclusive and extensive lineup of FSU athletics, key programming for fans in the team’s home market of Tallahassee. This includes FSN’s nationally-distributed “ACC Sunday Night Hoops” package, additional live ACC men’s and women’s basketball games, many featuring FSU, as well as baseball, the weekly “ACC Live” series and more.
Upon launch on these two systems, FSN Florida will be available in more than 5.4 million homes across Florida.
