TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Athletics Hall of Fame at Florida State University will induct seven new members on August 31 including Bobby Bowden who will return to a game in Doak Campbell Stadium and on the field that bears his name for the first time since retiring following the 2009 season.
Bowden will be at the Seminoles’ season opener on September 1 against Murray State. He will join one of his former quarterbacks Danny Kanell as a member of the 2012 class. FSU will also induct baseball star John-Ford Griffin, women’s basketball standout Bev Burnett and All-America golfer Christian Raynor. Bowden’s former longtime administrative assistant Sue Hall has been voted in with the class as has prominent businessman and university benefactor DeVoe Moore.
The 2012 class will be formally inducted at a banquet the night before the Seminole’s first home football game. The location and ticket availability for the induction ceremony will be announced later. The class will also be recognized at the football game the following day. At this time tickets to the Florida State vs. Murray State game are available as part of the seven game season ticket packages on sale at www.seminoles.com or by calling 1-888-FSU-NOLE. Single game tickets to FSU home games that do not sell out in season ticket packages will go on sale this summer.
