Florida State Director of Athletics Dave Hart announced Wednesday the promotion of Rob Wilson to the position of Associate Athletics Director for Communications and the promotion of Tina Thomas to Sports Information Director.
Wilson, who will begin his 20th year with the FSU Athletics department in July, had been Assistant Athletics Director for Media and Public Relations for the Seminoles since 2000. Wilson joined the Sports Information Department at his alma mater in 1987 and became Sports Information Director in 1994. Wilson’s new duties within the athletics department involve an administrative role working with all elements of the athletics department along with assisting with FSU’s television, radio and internet properties. Wilson, 45, will serve as liaison to faculty, Seminole Boosters, FSU Alumni and the many fans around the country using all communications mediums. He will also manage graphic projects on current and future athletic facilities. Wilson will serve on the executive athletic administrative staff and will be the primary contact for information regarding administrative policies and procedures.
Thomas, 38, will take over duties as Sports Information Director where she will be in charge of all media relations for FSU’s 19 intercollegiate sports. Thomas, who is in her 13th year as a member of the Florida State sports information staff, was promoted to Senior Associate Sports Information Director in 2004 and office manager, among other duties, were added to her responsibilities. She has served as the primary contact for women’s basketball since joining the FSU staff and has also worked with football, volleyball, softball and women’s soccer programs since joining the staff in 1994. Thomas has also served as publications coordinator the past several years.
Elliott Finebloom, who has served as an assistant sports information director at FSU since 2001, has been promoted to Associate SID and has assumed the sports information responsibilities for the football program. Finebloom, who earned his master’s degree from FSU in 2000, has also worked with Seminole women’s soccer, softball and baseball.
