The Seminoles regained a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning as rightfielder Matt Diaz belted a two-run homer to centerfield.

Third baseman Aubrey Huff singled and scored on an RBI-basehit by designated-hitter Mike Muller as the Hurricanes tied the score at 5-5 in the sixth inning.

A solo home run by Salazar in the seventh inning gave the Seminoles a 6-5 lead, but Hurricanes’ rightfielder Jason Michaels walked and scored on a basehit by first baseman Rick Saggesse to knot the score at 6-6 in the top of the eighth inning.

Right-hander (2-1) Scott Proctor gave up three runs on four hits in two innings of relief as he took the loss for FSU. Proctor struck out three in the outing.
