SECOND HALF GAME NOTES
JONES EARNS FIRST CAREER RECEIVING TOUCHDOWN
Junior running back Ty Jones earned his first career receiving touchdown on a two yard pass from quarterback Christian Ponder in the third quarter to make the score 20-10. It was his second touchdown of the season and eight of his career - each of his first seven were rushing touchdowns.
PONDER MOVES UP ON CAREER TOUCHDOWN PASS LIST
Senior quarterback Christian Ponder moved into a tie for 11th all-time (with Chip Ferguson) at Florida State with 34 career touchdown passes on his two-yard touchdown pass to Ty Jones in the third quarter to put Florida State up 20-10.
THOMPSON GOES OVER 100 YARDS FOR FIRST TIME
Sophomore running back Chris Thompson posted a 31 yard run in the third quarter that pushed him over 100 yards for the first time in his career. He finished the game with a single-game career high 123 yards.
HAULSTEAD WITH LONGEST CATCH OF CAREER
Sophomore Willie Haulstead snagged a 34 yard reception in the third quarter - the longest reception of his career to set up Christian Ponder's one-yard scoring run which put Florida State up 27-10. His previous long reception was 27 yards against Oklahoma on Sept. 11.
PONDER FINDS RUNNING SUCCESS AGAINST BYU - AGAIN
Quarterback Christian Ponder earned a one yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter to up Florida State's lead over BYU to 27-10. The rushing touchdown was Ponder's seventh of his career and second of his career against BYU. He also scored on a six yard rush against BYU in last year's 54-28 Seminole win in Provo on Sept. 19, 2009.
JENKINS WITH CAREER-HIGH TWO SACKS
Sophomore defensive end Brandon Jenkins recorded a single game career high for sacks with two against Brigham Young. He recorded 0.5 sacks in the Seminoles' season-opener against Samford and did not have a sack in 12 games as a freshman in 2009.
MORE RUSHING YARDS THAN PASSING YARDS
Florida State finished Saturday's game against BYU with more yards rushing (280) than they did passing (149). It marked the first time this season after accomplishing the feat three times in 2009 including against BYU when the Seminoles' rushed for 313 yards and passed for 199 yards in their 54-28 win.
REED REACHES 100 CAREER CATCHES
Junior Wide receiver Bert Reed caught a career-high tying nine passes for 89 yards in the Seminoles' win over BYU. His ninth catch, which came in the fourth quarter was the 100th catch of his career and made him the 24th player in school history to reach 100 catches for his career. His is now ranked 23rd in school history for career catches for 100.
