TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 31-ranked Florida State men’s tennis team (16-10, 4-6) travels to No. 47-ranked Miami (14-9, 4-6) to close out the regular season. The match takes place at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
“We look forward to going down to south Florida this weekend,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “We have several guys on our team from down there. It’s always a hard fought match against Miami and we look forward to renewing our rivalry with them.”
Since 2003, the Seminoles are 10-3 against the Hurricanes and have won the past three matches. In singles, Omar Aly is ranked No. 66 for Miami. Florida State has junior Dominic Cotrone ranked No. 90 in singles while junior Cristian Gonzalez Mendez is ranked No. 121. Cotrone and senior Blake Davis are ranked No. 74 in doubles.
Gonzalez Mendez leads the team with a 27-7 record this year in singles while freshman Grayson Goldin is 21-8. Coming close to the 20-win mark is both Cotrone at 18-13 and sophomore Michael Rinaldi at 18-12.
