Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida State track and field team heads across town to the Pete Griffin Track for the FAMU Relays, this Friday and Saturday, March 11-12, 2005.
Three Seminoles posted regional qualifying marks at the first event of the outdoor season. Junior Andrew Diakos, sophomore Lindsey Nelson and senior Kimberly Walker, all secured berths to the NCAA East Regional Championships in Randall’s Island, N.Y. Diakos became the first Seminole on the men’s team to qualify for NCAA East Regionals this season with an event-winning mark of 185’7″ (56.58m). Walker was the first collegian to cross the line in the 100m dash with a regional qualifying time of 11.75. Nelson joined Walker on the list of qualifiers with a throw of 47’6.5″ (14.49m) in the shot put.
After the FAMU Relays, Florida State hosts the biggest home meet of the season, the FSU Relays, at Mike Long Track Complex from March 16-19, 2005.
