FSU Cross Country Leaves Disney With Sixth Place Finish

Tallahassee – The men’s and women’s cross country teams sent their secondary to the Walt Disney World Classic in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., Saturday, October 11, 2003. The men’s team finished 6th overall with an average time of 26:57.88 and the women finished 15th out of 32 colleges or universities.

Freshman Merdith Urban led the Seminoles with a team of 19:38.14 while senior Mari Leitner finished 18 seconds later. Sophomore Abbie Day (20:41.77) and Claudia Dorvillus (21:30.78) finshed within the groups top seven while newcomers Abbie Day (20:41.77), Adrienne Lufkin (20:42.20), Tina Beidenharn (20:53.14) and Carla Agnew (21:03.30) rounded out the point earners for the Seminoles.

On the men’s side, senior Jim Van Veen crossed the tape at 26:24.55 followed by freshman Shawn Patterson with a mark of 26:33.61. Redshirt freshman Steve DiBari finished with a time of 27:00.93, senior Dan Clark was right behind him with a time of 27:17.99 while redshirt junior Nate Davis closed the line for the Noles posting a mark of 27:32.29.

FSU will spend the next week concentrating on this Saturday’s meet at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Cedar Falls Iowa.
