FSU Cross Country Men Place 13th, Women 20th At NCAA Pre-Nationals

GREENVILLE, S.C –
The Florida State University cross country team traveled to the NCAA Pre-Nationals at Furman University in Greenville, S.C. to pull out a 13th place finish for the men and a 20th place finish for the women Saturday morning.


The men ran in the 8K gold race, defeating University of Florida, who placed 29th, for the first time since 1981 with a score of 356 to the Gator’s 754. Once again, the Seminoles were led by juniors Kim Bergdahl and Joep Tigchelaar, placing 24th and 31st, respectively. Rounding out the top five runners for the men were Maarten Van den Huevel placing 71st, David Johnson 99th and Dave Guerra 191st.


In the women’s action the Lady Seminoles ran a 6K course in the silver race placing 20th earning 522 points. Junior Vicky Gill led the way for the women placing 30th with a time of 21:47. Closing out the top slots were juniors Katie Jefferey placing 96th, Misty Harper placing 105th and Allison Lind placing 120th.
