SOUTH BEND, Ind.,– The Florida State men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to the campus of the University of Notre Dame this weekend to run against some of the country’s best teams at the Notre Dame Invitational. Head coach Bob Braman took seven runners from each of the men’s and women’s teams to South Bend Ind., for Saturday’s race. The women came away with an 11th place finish while the men came in 19th. No. 1-ranked Stanford won first place in both races.
In only her third race for FSU, freshman Amy Plekaitis led the Lady Seminoles finishing in 27th place with a time of 17:54. Junior Brooke Bastien came in second for the Lady Noles for the third time this season finishing in 33rd place with a time 18:03. Katie Jeffrey followed her teammates finishing with a time of 18:27 and finishing 67th.
For the men, sophomore Nick Stuart set the pace once again coming in first for the Noles. Stuart finished in 60th-place with a time of 25:23. Sophomore Dave Guerra had a strong performance finishing second for the Noles in 83rd place with a time of 25:33. The third finisher for the Seminoles was junior Brian Fleishmann who finished with a time of 25:59.
The next four finishers for FSU were sophomore Ryan Hicks (110th-26:07), junior Tommy Kunish (119th-26:11), sophomore Danny Fritz (126th-26:18), and freshman Dan Clark (144th-26:18).
The Seminoles will be back in action on October 13th, at the Florida Intercollegiate Championship in Tampa, Fla., on the campus of the University of South Florida.
