FSU Cross Country Teams Finish Eight at ACC Championships

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — The Florida State men’s and women’s cross country teams each placed eighth at the ACC Cross Country Championships thismorning at the University of Virginia. NC State won both the men’s and women’s team titles.


Senior Aaron Scheer was the top runner for the men as he placed 20th
overall with a time of 25:32.4. Scheer has been FSU’s No. 1 runner in each meet he has competed in this season. A pair of freshman, Brian Fleishmann and Tommy Kunish, ran second and third for the Seminoles. Fleishmann was 44th (26:47.3) and Kunish was 46th (26:51.3), respectively. Michael Maier (48th – 26:57.3) and Zach Heissner (52nd – 27:08.2) rounded out the top five.


On the women’s side, sophomore Cynthia Campbell set the pace for the Lady Seminoles with a 30th place finish and time of 18:37.3. Diana Hartnup was close behind at 18:42.3, good for 34th overall. Mary Gaskins (49th – 19:23.3), Natalie Reid (52nd – 19:42.3) and Kingsley Broughton (55th – 19:50.4) completed the scoring for the Lady Seminoles.


Both teams will take this weekend off before traveling to Birmingham, AL for the NCAA Regional Championships.
