Tallahassee, Fla. – This weekend the Florida State Cross Country teams will travel to South Bend, Indi., to participate in the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday. The men face over 30 schools packed with talent, including No. 1-ranked Stanford. The women will face over 20 teams, and an equally tough field, with teams from Duke, North Carolina, and Stanford scheduled to participate.
Sophomore Nick Stuart remains strong, and will pace the men’s team in this weekends competition. Stuart and sophomore Ryan Hicks have excelled in the early going for the Seminoles. Both will attempt to improve on their early accomplishments with a strong finish at this weekend’s meet. Senior Josh Ware will not be competing due to his lower leg injury.
The Lady Seminoles are led by freshman Amy Plekaitis. Plekaitis began the season with first and second place finished in her first two races. Junior Brooke Bastien has also looked impressive in the early season by finishing second among the Lady Noles in both of her first two meets.
Other Seminoles to watch this weekend included junior Tommy Kunish, and senior Cynthia Campbell who both return from stellar 1999 seasons.
The race is scheduled to take place Friday at 4:15 for the women, and 5:00 for the men on October 6, 2000.
