TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State cross country team will host the Florida Intercollegiate Championships, its only home meet of the year, Saturday, September 21st, at Miccosukee Greenway Park in Tallahassee, Fla. The Seminoles will compete in the only event of the season in which over 20 colleges and universities from Florida will battle on the same trail to see who is the best in the state.
Both the men’s and women’s squads are ranked sixth in the NCAA South Region, which includes teams from the states of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina. The Seminoles will look to knock off fellow in-state powers, Florida (second in the region) and South Florida (fifth in the region).
In the season opener three weeks ago, FSU finished second in both men’s and women’s competition at the Appalachian State Invitational. The Lady Seminoles were led by junior Allison Lind’s sixth-place finish, which earned her ACC Performer of the Week honors. The men were led by junior Zach Heissner’s 12th-place finish overall.
