FSU Earns Top Seed As ACC Championship Seeds Announced

2012 ACC Women’s Soccer Championship Bracket

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State holds the top seed for the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Championship, which gets underway Sunday, Oct. 28, with quarterfinal matches at four campus sites.

The Seminoles (15-2-0, 8-2-0 ACC), will play host to eighth-seeded Boston College in quarterfinal action Sunday. Florida State nailed down its second ACC regular-season title and first since 2009 with a win over Maryland on Oct. 21.

Other Sunday matchups include No. 2 seed Maryland (11-5-2, 6-3-1 ACC) hosting No. 7 Miami (9-6-3, 4-4-2), No. 3 Wake Forest (12-4-3, 6-3-1 ACC) at home against No. 6 Duke (12-4-2, 5-3-2 ACC), and No. 4 North Carolina (9-4-1, 6-3-1 ACC) playing host to No. 5 Virginia (13-4-1, 6-3-1).

All of Sunday’s quarterfinal matches will kick-off at 1 p.m. The winners advance to WakeMed Soccer Park at Cary, N.C., for semifinals on Friday, Nov. 2 at 5 and 7:30 p.m. The Championship will take place on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m.

As has been the norm in recent years, the 2012 ACC Women’s Soccer Championship is packed with elite teams. Seven of the eight teams in this year’s tournament field are ranked in both the NSCAA or the Soccer America Top 25, and five – No. 3/1 Florida State, No. 7/6 Wake Forest, No. 8/8 North Carolina, No. 9/7 Maryland and No. 10/10 Virginia are among the Top 10.

The semifinal and championship matches will be shown nationally via ESPN platforms, with the semifinals set for ESPN3 and the title game for ESPNU.

Ticket prices for the quarterfinal round in Tallahassee inside the Seminole Soccer Complex will be $8 for adults, $5 for children/students and seniors, while all ACC students are admitted free with a school ID.
