LOS ANGELES – Reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the 16th time in school history, No. 10 Florida State (14-3-4) continues in the 2016 postseason at McAlister Field on the campus of USC on November 18 against No. 23 Utah (12-3-5). The match between the Noles and the Utes will begin at 2:00 p.m. ET. Florida State is playing on the road for the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in program history and the first since 2011.
The Noles have reached at least the quarterfinal round of the tournament in all 11 previous seasons under head coach Mark Krikorian.
“It is different – when you are at home, you are used to the comforts of being here,” said Krikorian. “But this is as well-traveled a team that we’ve ever had. So I think that everyone is ready to go and excited to move on in this tournament. We are looking forward to playing a team we’ve never faced before, in the University of Utah, and see how it goes out in sunny LA.”
Florida State and Utah have never played each other before and the Noles are a combined 17-6-1 against teams currently in the Pac-12, going 4-1-0 in their last five matches.
The Noles rank second in the nation with a 0.320 goals against average and have given up only seven goals during the 2016 season, trailing only Northwestern (6) for the fewest goals allowed in the nation.
Friday’s match at McAlister Field and will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network, with live stats available on Gametracker and NCAA.com. Tickets are for sale now at usctrojans.com and are priced at $10 for adults.
The winner of FSU/Utah will play against the winner of No. 7 USC/Texas A&M in a NCAA third round match on Sunday, November 20 at 3:00 p.m. ET.
