TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 4 Florida State Lady Seminoles ended their conference season today, after falling in four games to the No. 5 Duke Blue Devils, 14-16, 10-15, 15-4, 10-15 at the ACC Tournament in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Blue Devils advance to the semifinals of the 2000 Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Championship held on the campus of Wake Forest University. The `Noles fall to 21-11 on the season, and end the season with a 9-8 conference record.
“We are obviously disappointed in the loss,” FSU head coach Dr. Cecile Reynaud said. “Duke blocked tremendously well tonight, and we just couldn’t break through.”
For the Seminoles, senior outside hitter Jennifer Werrick tallied a match-high 25 digs while contributing ten kills. Running the FSU offense was freshman setter Jennifer Anderson who finished the match with 49 assists. Junior middle hitter Norisha Campbell also posted strong numbers with 16 kills, six blocks and a .364 hitting percentage. Team totals for Florida State were 60 kills, 85 digs and eight blocks in the four-game match. Reynaud ends the `Noles conference season with a 618-314 career record.
Duke advances to Saturday’s semifinal match when they will face the top seeded Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The game will be played at 4:30 pm.
