FSU Falls To Wake, 3-0

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.–Junior Jessica Hood recorded 14 kills and a .500
hitting percentage to lead Wake Forest to a 3-0 sweep of visiting Florida
State in an ACC women’s volleyball match in Reynolds Gym on Saturday night.

The Demon Deacons (11-4, 1-2 ACC) won the first game easily, 15-5,
and jumped to a 14-9 lead in the second game. The Seminoles (5-7, 0-2)
rallied with five straight points to tie the game at 14-14, but the Deacons
eventually pulled out a close 20-18 decision. Wake then held off FSU,
15-11, in the final game to earn the sweep.

The Deacons posted a team hitting percentage of .262 and had 11
team blocks. Sophomore Trina Maso de Moya added 13 kills and 14 digs,
while senior Katie Horne tallied 10 kills and 11 digs. Junior setter Julie
Cowley collected 45 assists in the win. For the Seminoles, Aisha Thornton
had 14 kills and seven blocks, while Norisha Campbell netted 13 kills and
six blocks with a .409 hitting percentage.

Wake Forest hosts Liberty on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 7:00 pm in
Reynolds Gym.
