TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Fresh off their victories at the Georgia Tech Invite this weekend, the Florida State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are headed to Gainesville today for a dual meet with rival Florida at 4:00 p.m.
The swimming and diving meet kicks of a string of athletics events in Gainesville between the two schools this week. There is also a men’s basketball game this evening and football game on Saturday.
“It’s a great week for the rivalry and we will certainly be doing our part,” remarked Head Coach Neil Harper. “This will be an exciting meet. So many of our swimmers and divers know each other and swam with and against Florida swimmers in high school and on club teams.”
The Seminoles faced off against, and defeated, the Gators this past weekend, but unlike the partial squad which participated at the Georgia Tech Invite, this time around the Gators will have the weight of their full squad to do battle.
Wins against the Gator teams will thrust Florida State into the national spotlight as both the men’s and women’s team are ranked among the top ten in the nation.
“This is why our kids came to Florida State, to be a part of a great meet and intense rivalry.”
